  • Hispanic Ministry

The Hispanic/Latino monthly dinners are underway after a summer hiatus. We lost three members of our ministry–Pastor Bill, Jana, and Marjorie but gained an enthusiastic supporter–Pastor Jerome. Attendance was a little low, but we’re confident the word will be spreading for next month.

In our Wednesday night Disciple Bible Study we recently read many scriptures concerning God’s law. One of them that was repeated several times was “And you shall not oppress a stranger, since you yourselves know the feelings of a stranger, for you also were strangers in the land of Egypt.”

We hear a lot of grumbling about illegal immigrants and the benefits that they have received here in the United States. But, I’m glad that if we have erred, it has been on the side of mercy. Perhaps it is because many Americans do remember when their families were strangers in the land since we can all trace our family trees back to an ancestor who first immigrated to America.

I hope our ministry is being successful in showing a hand of friendship to the young man who is far away from his family and the church he grew up in. I hope that he is drawn to God by the love of Christ that we are showing him.

    In Jesus’ love, Nancy
